About

Privacy

The short version: no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies, and we never sell or share anyone's information.

Last updated October 25, 2026.

What stays on your device

Your settings, saved locals, home local, saved searches, project report, troubleshooting level and offline copies of pages are stored in your own browser. They aren't sent to us. If you use "Near me", your location is used on your device to sort locals and is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser's data for this site removes all of it.

Page counts

We count page views to see which pages people use. For each visit we record the page, the site that linked to it, whether the screen is a phone or a computer, and the state or country the visit came from. These are added to daily totals. We don't use cookies for this, and we don't store IP addresses or any code that identifies you. If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted at all.

Member reports

Report a change, "I took this call", "Filled or gone?" and Suggest your local need no account, name or email. To count each report once, we keep a scrambled version of a random code your browser makes, and a scrambled code for your network (never the network address itself), which we erase after a few weeks. A Cloudflare bot check runs when you send a report. About the data explains how reports are checked before anything shows.

Alerts

Alerts use your browser's own notifications. To send them we keep the address your browser's push service gives us, the locals you follow and the searches you saved for alerts, nothing else. Turn alerts off in My stuff and that address is deleted. Notifications are delivered by your browser's push service (for example Google, Apple or Mozilla).

Services we use

Like any web host, they may keep short-term server logs for security. We don't add advertising, social media or analytics trackers from anyone else.

What we never do

Children

Wireman is made for people working in the electrical trade and isn't directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If we ever add accounts or payments, this page will say exactly what they collect before they go live.
