Report a change
Use it when the hall posts a new wage sheet, the books move, or the call count is off.
- Open your local’s page from Locals.
- Tap Report a change at the top of the page.
- Pick what changed. You’ll see what the page shows now.
- Tap Still right if it’s correct, This looks wrong if it isn’t and you don’t know the new number, or type the new number and tap Send new value. For a wage, add the month it takes effect if you know it.
What happens next: nothing changes on one person’s word. A wage shows once about 3 members on different networks agree; book and call counts need about 2. The new number shows next to the hall’s figure, never in place of it, after the evening update (6:30 PM Central).
Took a call, or one is gone
Every call card has two buttons.
- I took this call: once 2 or more members say so, the card shows “✓ members took this call this week”. It helps travelers see which calls are really moving.
- Filled or gone?: when 2 members on different networks say a call is filled, it comes off the board. If the hall keeps posting it, it comes back on its own. The hall always has the final say.
Calls also come off by themselves when a hall hasn’t posted anything new in over 9 days. The page then says when they were last updated, so you know to call the job line.
Traveler conditions
Open Report a change on the local’s page and pick Taking travelers, Per diem being paid or Parking or badging trouble, then tap Yes or No.
Answers show in a “From members” box on the local’s page once about 2 members agree, and count for 30 days. They’re members’ reports, not the hall’s: always call the hall before you travel.
Suggest your local
We list every inside local on the IBEW’s jurisdiction maps. If yours isn’t there (a newer local, or a branch other than inside), tap Suggest your local on the Locals page and enter its number, state, city and the hall’s phone number.
Once another member confirms the same details, Wireman checks them and adds the local. Members can then report its wages, books and calls.
Get alerts
- Open a local’s page and tap Get alerts. Or set up a search in Find a call (say, inside wireman in Texas with per diem) and tap Get alerts for this search.
- Allow notifications when your browser asks.
- See and turn off your locals and searches in My stuff.
Search alerts don’t use the distance or “only my saved locals” filters: your location and saved list never leave your phone.
Alerts come once a day, after the evening update, only when something changed. On iPhone: first tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open Wireman from there; Apple only allows alerts that way.
How we keep it honest
- One person can’t change anything. Numbers need several members who agree, on different networks.
- A brand-new browser has to wait a day before its reports count, and agreeing reports have to come in over at least half a day, so nobody can fake a crowd with a phone and a laptop.
- The hall’s own figures are always shown. Member numbers sit beside them with how many members confirmed them.
- If enough members say a number looks wrong, it’s flagged, then taken down unless someone confirms it.
- Updates are only accepted from inside the United States, and a bot check stops automated spam.
- Browsers that keep sending numbers nobody else agrees with are quietly ignored.
Your privacy
We never ask for your name, email, card number, employer or job site. Your browser keeps a random code so your update counts once, and we scramble it before storing it. Alerts use your browser’s notifications, not email. The details.
Questions
- I sent an update. Why don’t I see it?
- It shows once enough other members agree, after the evening update. While Wireman is starting out, reports are collected and checked before they go on the board.
- I made a mistake.
- Send the right number. Only your latest report counts.
- Can I report for a local I’m not in?
- Yes, if you know. Travelers often know a hall’s calls and conditions best.
- The hall’s figure is out of date.
- Report the new number with its effective month. Both show until the hall posts its new sheet.
